Elephantida

Elephantida is a group that contains the elephants as well as their extinct relatives, the gomphotheres, choerolophodontids, amebelodontids ("shovel tuskers") and the stegodontids. The following cladogram shows the relationships among elephantidans, based on hyoid characteristics:
