Raphe

Raphe (/ˈrfi/ RAY-fee; from Ancient Greek: ῥαφή, romanized: rhaphḗ, lit.'seam'; pl.: raphae or raphes) has several different meanings in science.

In botany and planktology it is commonly used when describing a seam or ridge on diatoms or seeds.
