Postmaster-General of Victoria

The Postmaster-General of Victoria was a former ministry portfolio within the Executive Council of Victoria. The position was created in 1857, shortly after the colony separated from New South Wales. Upon Federation, Section 51(v) of the Constitution of Australia gave the Commonwealth exclusive power for "postal, telegraphic, telephonic, and other like services" and the position in Victoria was abolished three months later on the 1st of March 1901.
