Background
- Also known as Factor V Leiden Deficiency or FVL
- Point mutation in FV making it resistant to cleavage by activated protein C
- Increased risk of thrombosis
- Most individuals with FVL will never have a venous thromboembolism (VTE)

- Family history of thrombophilia
- VTE at a young age
- VTE in an atypical location
