I teach at a small university on the edge of London, England. Whilst I have been programming since 1972 (started with Fortran IV on punch cards!), I am self-taught and so find myself missing some of the useful bits.

Originally, I was a mathematician (statistician actually) who programmed, but now I seem to spend more time programming than doing sums. I have used and/or taught a variety of programming languages including Pascal, Basic, Visual Basic, C, C#, C++, Java and so on. I also used 6502 and 8080 machine code, but that was a LONG time ago.

I was lucky enough to get in to programming for the Internet in the early days, starting with static HTML pages, but then added JavaScript and VBScript, CSS, PHP and so on.

At the moment, my programming time is mainly split between Python and PHP.
