.NET Developer (C# mainly) with degrees in both MIS and Finance. Rather proficient with SQL, I'm currently working on a few personal projects using MongoDB & MVC to learn and adjust to working with nosql architectures. I've learned as much from the community here as I did sitting in a classroom. Not being able to comment and ask questions became unbelievably inconvenient after I started trying to teach myself nosql theory and implementation so now I have an account and I'm trying to scrape up some reputation.

I'm a novice developer and have more than just a few bad habits since the programs I wrote as part of my MIS degree were graded more by "well does it do what it's supposed to and not crash?" rather than "is this good, theory-based code?". Any tips to improve my development abilities, book recommendations, or criticisms of my bad habits are hugely appreciated and I'm not easily offended.
