I started learning code back in 1978 when my bf at the time was a coding savant. Its amazing what you can learn when you are rewarded for success by love. Funny thing is. Last I heard he was managing a Radio Shack and I'm a Sr Consultant in my own business. Fate! Go figure.

I'm a huge control freak, introvert and social hermit. I think Social media = Society Decline and avoid it like its the plague.

I learned to love coding while in high school and that love has never declined. I get such a rush from seeing my will coming to life.

I like all kinds of music except Rap. I prefer songs/performers where the words can be heard clearly and where you can whistle the underlying tune. While my collection ranges from Country through Early Rock (yes I'm that old) and Folk. I have a special place for Maritime Folk music. I think I have every ABBA song and most of Irish Rovers and I also like other "Super Bands" of the mid to late 70.

I like being challenged to apply my knowledge to problems. I have a great puzzle solving ability although sometimes the answer doesn't come until I'm in the shower or in bed sleeping and the answer comes in a dream.

In 2006 I was a sole developer and senior support for a Veterinary clinic management software and felt very secure in my job... after all if they fire me... they will not get new features or bug fixes. Feb 02, 2006 I was laid off due to 'lack of work' and I was completely caught off guard.

I went online to my favourite chat room where I answered questions for people in #delphi on EFnet IRC. Three days later. I was whining about my misfortune when one of the people I was helping with a very difficult problem... offered to hire me as a consultant. All I needed to setup a real registered business and sign some papers. 3 weeks later I was in business and writing code again.

I have a knack for understanding how code works. I can quite often glance at a block of code and understand how it works withing a few seconds. This has served me well while debugging code. I believe debugging other people's code is a more important skill and one that has served me well.

Enough about me. I'm fat. I'm ugly. I have thin to non-existent hair on top of my head. I have brittle nails that crack and break more often than I'd ever like. My fave colours are blue and light purple.

I live in Western Canada but I work in North Carolina. I've worked in India, Pakistan, Australia, Canada and the US of A all by telecommuting.
