I am working on a research report about the technologies categorized as the real-time web. So far I've spoken with 45+ different companies building or leveraging real-time technologies like PubSubHubbub, XMPP, Twitter, etc. My co-workers at ReadWriteWeb and I also hosted an event on the topic in Mountain View, CA in October.
I am not a developer but I admire what cutting edge developers do. Our site attempts to translate some of that in news coverage for end users.
I think StackOverflow might be a good place to find developers interested in suggesting some technical questions that I could ask the companies I'm profiling as case studies in the report I'm writing. I'm writing the report primarily regarding things like obstacles faced, lessons learned and value propositions articulated regarding the use of real-time technologies.
I'm posting drafts of my write-ups here and asking StackOverflow users to suggest questions you'd like to see the answers to, questions that presumably will be more technical than what I've asked. If I use one of your questions in the report, I'll contact you here and send you a copy of the full report when it's done at no cost.
Hope that seems like a good use of the site. Thanks for your interest. Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns at marshall@readwriteweb.com
