A self-proclaimed computer science nerd, I am constantly looking for exciting new challenges and ways to solve them. From 2007-2010, I worked in the Ohio University bioinformatics lab and on various internships using my computer science training to solve difficult biological and statistical problems using data mining and Bayesian statistics.
In addition to my work in bioinformatics, my master’s thesis work revolved around high performance computing (HPC) and parallelization techniques for bioinformatics algorithms within a custom framework of my own design. This work involved the use of very low-level code optimizations and the abstraction of specific functions to allow easy parallelization and efficient execution of new code within the framework.
Following graduation, I moved to San Diego, CA in pursuit of a career in line with my talents and skill set. Currently, I am a software engineering manager for Digium's Mobile Clients team.
I received an MS in computer science from Ohio University in 2010 and a BS in electrical engineering with a computer engineering option in 2007. I have strong proficiency in C++, C, C# and F# with additional experience in MPI, Perl and HTML, Python, Java, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.
