I'm just another blue-collar software developer. One who rarely writes an algorithm on the job, but rather plays around with lego blocks of built-in classes and libraries. Drag-n'-drop, cut-and-paste coding (well maybe I'm being too harsh there).

But that is not who I want to be. I want to get better, because this is something I love doing and has given me satisfaction1. I am the type who feels uncomfortable with unindented code. Files floating around without a hint of folder structure secretly piss me off. I comment my code... not just to disable it. I split it across various files as I judge appropriate. I make an effort to stick to a naming convention. I strongly believe function and variable names are very important. I imagine an audience reading my code while I am producing it. I read random questions on Stack Overflow.

1: Your job shouldn't be just a job, if you can help it. I didn't get into IT because "there are jobs". If you do not have a minimum of passion about your work and don't enjoy what you do, your life is going to get miserable. We spend most of it at the office and in bed (with little left in between). I think that if looking at a line of code outside office hours upsets your stomach, then maybe this is not for you.
