Since 1986 I have been tinkering with computers and programming in many different languages and scripts, most of which I have learned by myself.

I'm educated as what would litterally translate as computer mechanic... which isn't a very good description of what we actually learned or did. That education doesn't exist anymore, but it was a 5 year apprenticeship, and besides electronics and hardware we learned to program both embedded systems and pcs. I was apprenticed to a large Danish company, where my main responsibilities were technical support and java (java not being considered important enough for the real programmers). I got myself involved in some scripting and c++ programming as well. And some SAP... among other things...

After graduating I got a job as a software developer, mainly in c++ and LabView, with a side dish of technical support. I was very good at it and knew it.

In 2006 I got a new job and switched to mainly ansi c (both mac, windows and embedded). The first year that of job was the most fun I've ever had. It combined programming with music, and so I got to work with my two favorite hobbies every day, and even get paid for it... Then it all turned sour, and in the end, despite us working every waking hour, the company crash landed in 2009. After not being able to find a new job I had a serious breakdown, and it was years before I could even look at source code without going into a panic.

I don't want to work as a programmer again, because I think I will never get back that spark I had. The days are gone where computers were (almost) all of my life, but now (2018) I am again able to at make a quite long script or to hunt a bug in some source and yet be able to sleep that following night.

I have regained my joy of making music too, btw.
