Degrees in computer engineering. Moved from HW-centric to SW-centric partway through my career, worked as a consultant for DEC Systems Integration, BEA Professional services, and Oracle. Roles filled - developer (Java, Python), integration architect, on-site support, application architect, DevOps, solution architect, troubleshooter, dev team lead, performance tiger team lead, ...

Mostly Unix/Linux on the backend (although prior to that OpenVMS on both VAXes and Alphas), a little bit of Windows Server. Mostly Windows on the desktop.

Python on-and-off for almost 20 years - started with Jython script to automatic configuration and management of WebLogic servers and clusters. Some Python in my last just working with intercepting and blocking or augmenting serial comms in a customer kiosk, and performing sensor integration in a mobile advertising appliance.

Before that C and Java - coding, supporting, and troubleshooting apps written by me or the customer, plus infrastructure and middleware - most of my experience has been in backends and in integration (especially Java and messaging middleware)
