My research involves the use of a Distributed Ledger Technology as a secure, timely and trustworthy communications platform for land and air vehicles to exchange positional and command information. I have settled on IOTA as a DLT solution and I propose to incorporate Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) running over 5G (or satellite) to carry the messages in and out of the IOTA network (tangle). My ultimate aim is to develop a Collision Avoidance mechanism to warn vehicles of approaching danger and increase the safety of drone, air and land passenger transport. It is my hope that such a system will offer better reaction times than currently proposed infrastructure based WiFi systems that operate on the roadside and currently offer a range of 150 metres or so (802.11). I would be most interested to hear comments from the group in favour or against my strategy as I am fearful that I have missed something obvious in the concept. Is my strategy feasible? To date, I have a working private IOTA network but having limited success in passing MQTT messages into it. There are a number of competing open and proprietary standards for MQTT which is complicating the selection process. What MQTT standard and version does the group consider most suitable? Is it Mosquito?
