I have an old domain with a bunch of decent backlinks, but I don't want to use the old domain anymore, and I have a new domain with few backlinks. In order to maximize SEO / PageRank for the new domain Is it better to:

a) Do a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new

b) Do a 302 redirect from the old domain to the new

c) Keep a home page on the old domain that links nowhere but to the new domain

d) something else?

Note that contacting most of the hosts of the old backlinks to get them to change their links is infeasible and often impossible due to lack of contact information.
