I'm trying to move files from my GoDaddy server to my pc using WinSCP. but whenever I run my bash script or any command (even just doing cd..) I get a timeout error. however if I move the file with the GUI it works fine. I want to use the CMD though as I am trying to automate my file transfers for backups. any idea as to why it is doing this and how to fix it?

I have Passive mode on and my timeout is 30sec

  • What does bash have to do with WinSCP? WinSCP is Windows software. We need [mcve]. – Martin Prikryl Aug 10 '23 at 19:24
  • @MartinPrikryl my bad you are right. however I cant real give a example. Whenever I do any type of command in the WinSCP terminal I get a timeout error. and I don't know why. – Liam Morton Aug 11 '23 at 12:20
  • 1) Remove the "bash" from your question. 2) Give us [mcve], no matter if you think it is pointless. It's at least something to start with. So far you only gave us confusing misinformation. – Martin Prikryl Aug 11 '23 at 13:21
