I am currently experiencing an issue regarding my U.2 drive and PCIe slots, and I hope those who have had a similar experience can help.

I have used a PCIe adapter card to connect a U.2 drive to my computer. If the drive is connected to the PCIe x4 slot, everything works as expected; the system can boot and read the drive correctly. However, when I attempt to connect the drive to the PCIe x16 slot, the system cannot boot.

I am certain that the U.2 drive and the PCIe adapter card are functional as they work fine when connected to the PCIe x4 slot. What I am trying to understand is why they fail to operate when connected to the PCIe x16 slot.

I am guessing it could be due to compatibility issues with the PCIe x16 slot or settings in the motherboard's BIOS. However, I have yet to find a concrete solution to the problem. If anyone has had a similar experience or any advice, your input would be highly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time and I look forward to your responses!
