Mailgun has a good support for Personalization/Merge using API and SMTP but as a non-tech savy person, I am trying to send achieve the same objective of sending personalized email campaign/newsletters to members of our mailing list in a very simple way but it doesn't work.

I have a mailing list with about 500 members and I have been sending them normal newsletters from my company email (newsletters@domain.com hosted with Microsoft/Office 365) just by composing the email/newsletter in my mail's Inbox and sending to our Mailing list address.

This way, every member of our mailing list receives our emails perfectly from: newsletters@domain.com as desired and to: shows the mailing list address which is okay.

But I am trying to personalize each message using default mailgun variable/merge tags such as {{recipient.name}} and {{recipient.email}} but it is not working. I have tried to create mail flow rules in microsoft exchange to include X-Mailgun-Variable headers with JSON key:value but it doesn't work.

Can you let me know if what i am trying to achieve can work in this way and how i can achieve this purpose?
