I would like to download and process books from Google Books using Google Books API. I am interested in historical books that are freely and fully available on the Google Books platform. One sample is this. You can see the text format if you click the gear icon on the top right of the page.
My ultimate aim is to use Google Books API to identify and retrieve this kind of books. My attempts have yielded only a verification page ('verify you are a human'). For instance, I have obtained the following URL using Google Books API as downloadLink http://books.google.nl/books/download/Pride_and_prejudice.epub?id=zJLNZZP6gmsC&hl=&output=epub&source=gbs_api. But requesting this page does not yield the book, but only an HTML page that asks for human verification. I was expecting the book.
Does anybody know whether there is any permitted way of reaching the books and retrieving them? I am not sure whether the issue I come across is a technical or legal one.
