I am a logistic employee for context, and we would like to improve our eficiency within our warehouse, We already have a system in which every item has an especific SKU (stock-keeping unit), which consists of a simple alpha numeric code in which the letters represent the brand of our item and the number after represents an item from that brand.
This is an example of the way we do it right now
This system is designed to be read and controlled by humans only. But I believe it would be an improvement to automatize this in the near future.
By scanning the products rather than manually counting them, would enhance our workflow. The general idea is to make a a generic Bar/QR code with the different SKU's (That way we wouldn't have to make a barcode for every item). Is there some type of system that would be able to read alphanumeric values like I did in this following concept?
If it is possible, by doing this, we should be able to control our goods with and without a scanner machine.
Any help, suggestions or ideas are very much appreciated!
