How to set the parameters - photon index and metal abundance in the CIAO-sherpa tool for an x-ray source?

I am trying to analyze a bright x-ray source using the data extracted from Chandra archive. I have no idea about setting up the parameters for some models in sherpa tool.

There are several analysis examples describing how to do that on CIAO/Sherpa website. Check the list of fitting threads https://cxc.harvard.edu/sherpa/threads/fitting.html

start with the first one on fitting PHA spectra:

  • Chandra archive data of obs. Id 2019 is missing PHA file. That's why I am getting this problem, and looking for alternative solutions. – Bivu Wagle Feb 21 '23 at 11:08
  • PHA data is not included in the archive. You need to extract it for your source given the coordinates of your specific source. See https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/ciao/threads/pointlike/ and related threads. – hamogu Feb 21 '23 at 13:02
  • For specific questions on individual datasets, I suggest to contact the Chandra helpdesk. The stackoverflow community does not have any special knowledge about which files are or are not included in specific archive downloads. – hamogu Feb 21 '23 at 13:03
