My question is in regards to an app called Ninjatrader, which assigns an unique "machine id" to the installation. Based on my experience, I think machine id is tied to the physical hardware BIOS ID/serial. Therefore, reformatting Windows or changing the HDD will NOT change the machine id.

I am trying to a get the machine ID to change in a Hyper-V virtual machine (VM) of a Windows 10 guest OS. I get a new machine ID different from the host PC within the VM. HOWEVER, it doesn't matter how many VMs I create and how I configure the VM, all the VM instances have the same machine ID.

How can I trigger a change to the unique hardware ID or machine ID for each VM instance in Hyper-V? I can get a different machine ID if the VM is configured as Gen 1 vs Gen 2. However, any other changes in configuration will not change the machine ID even on a new VM. Using HWID spoofers or changing the version of Windows in the VM has not worked.
