I have wav file with lot's of peaks and looking for a way to remove them. I have used Audio Gain and Normalize Max peak to -3dB but this is just trimming them down. This doesn't really work as sometimes pieces of audio reaching -3 or -6dB are not pops but part of lauder sound. Pops are rapid and decay quickly also.

The way I imagine finding pops could work. First, predefine rough lenght of a sequence that would most likely contain whole pop wave, then scan the file sequence by sequence and check if maximum value in each is let's say larger than 200% or 300% of an average in the sequence and then try to flatten offensive wave.
Maybe software that can do this sort of thing is available somewhere on the net?
