So I have an EDMS that uses OCR for extraction, indexing , classifying documents etc... But actually I have developed my own PDF editor that handles native and scanned PDFs for text modification (through OCR for scanned pdfs) But before starting I didn't really think about why using an external paid program such as Adobe Nitro Wondershare or Foxit would be a bad idea
Now I have to justify why I had to create mine I know it sounds a little ridiculous as question like people have to think in my place
But my question is just : are there any security or other risks concerned with editing documents from an EDMS out of the system??
For example I thought about the fact that downloading the documents everytime we have to edit is a long process and also that downloading them means every user that can edit will have the permission to download documents in the system and that wouldn't be good I also thought that using an external editor can change the layout of the document and since some extractions are based on templates, those tools can move key elements from their bounding boxes and they won't be found by the extraction template again
Please let me know what you think Thanks
