We use Photoswipe js plugin on our WordPress website for lightbox gallery. Everything is working fine, but I'd like to use alt tag of image as a caption in lightbox, but I don't know how. I though it should add alt tag to caption automatically, but it probably doesn't. But I'm not sure I'm am not missing anything.

Current codes we use:

HTML/PHP of my custom gallery:

<?php
    $images = get_field('gallery', 90);
    if( $images ): ?>
            <?php foreach( $images as $image ): ?>
            <figure class="item">
                <a href="<?php echo esc_url($image['url']); ?>" itemprop="contentUrl" data-size="1920x1080">
                    <img src="<?php echo esc_url($image['sizes']['large']); ?>" alt="test">
                    <?php if (esc_attr($image['alt'])):?>
                        <figcaption><?php echo esc_attr($image['alt']); ?></figcaption>
                    <?php endif;?>
                </a>
            </figure>
            <?php endforeach; ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

HTML of Photoswipe lightbox

Looking at the Photoswipe js plugin source code you can see here its looking for the 2nd child element inside the figure element:

if(figureEl.children.length > 1) {
    // <figcaption> content
    item.title = figureEl.children[1].innerHTML;
}

Try moving the figcaption outside the a tag so its the 2nd element inside the figure tag like below:

<?php
    $images = get_field('gallery', 90);
    if( $images ): ?>
            <?php foreach( $images as $image ): ?>
            <figure class="item">
                <a href="<?php echo esc_url($image['url']); ?>" itemprop="contentUrl" data-size="1920x1080">
                    <img src="<?php echo esc_url($image['sizes']['large']); ?>" alt="test">
                </a>
                <?php if ($image['alt']):?>
                    <figcaption><?php echo esc_attr($image['alt']); ?></figcaption>
                <?php endif;?>
            </figure>
            <?php endforeach; ?>
    <?php endif; ?>
