I have a bottom navigation bar in my application and 3 fragment, in homefragment I want to add the Collapsing toolbar, but after running the application I discovered that scrolling does not reach the end as shown in the image enter image description here

in my activity_main.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:id="@+id/container"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent">

    <androidx.appcompat.widget.Toolbar
        android:id="@+id/toolbar"
        android:layout_width="0dp"
        android:layout_height="0dp" />

    <com.google.android.material.bottomnavigation.BottomNavigationView
        android:id="@+id/nav_view"
        android:layout_width="0dp"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_marginStart="0dp"
        android:layout_marginEnd="0dp"
        android:background="?android:attr/windowBackground"
        app:layout_constraintBottom_toBottomOf="parent"
        app:layout_constraintLeft_toLeftOf="parent"
        app:layout_constraintRight_toRightOf="parent"
        app:menu="@menu/bottom_nav_menu" />

    <fragment
        android:id="@+id/nav_host_fragment"
        android:name="androidx.navigation.fragment.NavHostFragment"
        android:layout_width="0dp"

  • you can set the margin bottom – Usama Altaf Jan 13 '21 at 09:18
  • android studio is just an IDE, meaning that it helps you to create your apps using java/kotlin and a variety of other sdks. unless you're asking about a feature of the IDE specifically, there's no need to use the tag :) – a_local_nobody Jan 13 '21 at 09:30

You can add padding at the bottom of the NestedScrollView that equals to the height of the BottonNavigationView ..

The exact height is 56db, you can check here for that

<dimen name="design_bottom_navigation_height">56dp</dimen>

But you can increase that a little bit to avoid sticking the text of the bottom to the top of the BottomNavigationView, here I am using 60dp

<androidx.core.widget.NestedScrollView
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    app:layout_behavior="@string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior"
    android:paddingBottom="60dp"
    tools:showIn="@layout/activity_main">

    <TextView
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_margin="@dimen/text_margin"
        android:text="@string/large_text" />

</androidx.core.widget.NestedScrollView>
