I am trying to use remote-ssh with VS Code. However, I got this remote-ssh log:

  • OS: Linux x64 5.4.22-1-MANJARO
  • VS Code version: 1.42.1
  • Node.js version: 12.4.0

Same problem here. You have to use the VSCode package from Microsoft and not the one from your distribution. The package from Manjaro installs VSCode OSS and the SSH extension doesn't seems to like that. Try with the visual-studio-code-bin package from AUR.

I got same problem today. The final solution for me is to "remove the vscode and vscode-server settings on the ssh-server".

rm -r ~/.vscode
rm -r ./.vscode-server

removing entire vscode server directory worked for me.

rm -rf ~/.vscode-server

I had this same issue and what I did was to restart my computer while holding the shift key.

It worked when I put it back on.

I use the Ubuntu terminal in VScode
