using the vue-cli v3
and adding unit testing and using jest if you append semicolons to the end of import statements jest throws an error Unexpected token import
but when there are no semicolons everything works fine
i tried to search about the effects of semicolons to import statements but i got nothing
as far as eslint is concerned i have the vue cli option eslint with error checking only

Code examples:
// this will not work it doesn't matter
// which import statement has a semicolon
import { shallowMount } from '@vue/test-utils';
import HelloWorld from '@/components/HelloWorld.vue';
describe('HelloWorld.vue', () => {
it('renders props.msg when passed', () => {
const msg = 'new message'
const wrapper = shallowMount(HelloWorld, {
propsData: { msg }
})
expect(wrapper.text()).toMatch(msg)
})
})
// however this does
import { shallowMount } from '@vue/test-utils'
import HelloWorld from '@/components/HelloWorld.vue'
describe('HelloWorld.vue', () => {
it('renders props.msg when passed', () => {
const msg = 'new message'
const wrapper = shallowMount(HelloWorld, {
propsData: { msg }
})
expect(wrapper.text()).toMatch(msg)
})
})
expected: semicolon has no effect what happens: test breaks when semicolon is applied
how to reproduce:
1.vue create projectname
2.make sure you have enabled unit testing with jest using vue-cli options
3.go to ./tests/unit/example.spec.js
and append semicolons to imports
