Lottie animations compile not working - why?

Question

I want to make a small test in android and lottie, so I created a new project in android studio, added this line to the dependencies: compile 'com.airbnb.android:lottie:2.8.0' but I get this error:

Manifest merger failed : Attribute application@appComponentFactory value=(android.support.v4.app.CoreComponentFactory) from [com.android.support:support-compat:28.0.0] AndroidManifest.xml:22:18-91
    is also present at [androidx.core:core:1.0.0] AndroidManifest.xml:22:18-86 value=(androidx.core.app.CoreComponentFactory).
    Suggestion: add 'tools:replace="android:appComponentFactory"' to <application> element at AndroidManifest.xml:5:5-19:19 to override.

did you add implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0' after lottie — nima moradi, Jan 03 '19 at 15:24

The thing that resolved my issue was changing the compile version of lottie to:

compile 'com.airbnb.android:lottie:2.1.0'
