i'm having problems with django static files in production.I know django requires that you collectstatic during deployment, which i did. The real problem comes when i try to access my page on the browser and i get a 403 forbidden error on all static files. I tried changing my permissions and ownership of var/www/html folders to 755 and files to 644 but still no luck. How do i make my static files load?

403 error

  • [`collectstatic` isn't the only thing you need to do](https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.11/howto/static-files/deployment/). Are you using something like [WhiteNoise](http://whitenoise.evans.io/en/stable/)? – ChrisGPT was on strike Jul 02 '17 at 23:43

post your settings.py and screenshot of your project directory structure. – Ykh Jul 02 '17 at 23:56
  • edited my question and included my setting.py and included the image for the directory folder..i'm using nginx on an ubuntu 14.04 vps. – gathagu Jul 04 '17 at 22:34
  • There's something wonky going on... your browser request /static//base.css and got a 301 (redirect) to /static/stuff/base.css/ as in your server treated it as a directory ... please post your nginx conf – Foon Jul 04 '17 at 22:44
  • I edited my post. I noticed this problem too but since im a noob i just dont know where im going wrong and why im getting 301 and 403 errors. – gathagu Jul 04 '17 at 23:09
