qdbusxml2cpp not working properly

Question

I'm doing an small application based in Qt to get all Wifi bearer near my embedded Linux and for that I'm using Connman with QtDBus. In order to get all wifi signals, I'm trying to get autogenerated adaptor code using qdbusxml2cpp application. To do that, I'm using connman-dbus.conf file as descritpion of the service with the next content:

As you can see, this code is not useful so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with qdbusxml2cpp. Also, I don't know if I can do that with other more right approach that using QtDBus. Last, Is possible to connect to a wifi network from Qt App that is not working with root permissions? I think all of the above are very related questions that can help in this topic.

The file you're converting is a config file for the DBus daemon, but not an interface specification for a DBus interface. It only describes which signals are allowed to be sent on the bus from/to conman, but not how they look.

You need to convert the proper interface xml, it should look something like this. It is advisable to use the interface spec for the exact version of conman you're using, I just pulled the latest trunk version from github as example.

I'm not familiar with the functionality of conman, or about what part of it's functionality is accessible via D-Bus, but after a quick glance at these notes it looks like you should be able to scan for available interfaces via that interface - try using the net.connman.Technology.Scan method.

Generally there is nothing wrong with using QDbus, the documentation even states:

It should be noted that the low-level implementation is not primarily designed for application authors to use. Rather, it is a basis for binding authors and a reference for reimplementations. If you are able to do so it is recommended that you use one of the higher level bindings or implementations.

QtDBus is one of those higher level bindings.
