“settings.DATABASES is improperly configured” error performing syncdb with django 1.6.8

Question

I've setup devstack juno and django version 1.6.8. when want to run this command

python manage.py runserver

I got this following error:

WARNING:root:No local_settings file found.
CommandError: You must set settings.ALLOWED_HOSTS if DEBUG is False.

I configured settings.py of django and this file looks like:

Firstly I have DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE set problem.

I have set DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE to openstack_dashboard.settings.

and in horizon/openstack_dashboard folder I found settings.py and use database connection as answered below. Now it worked!!!

You haven't specified NAME of the database.

First of all you have to create a database with whatever database admin tool you are using. Then set it's name in your settings.py NAME variable.

Example:

If you create a new database called mysiteDB, then in your settings.py file, you need to do this:

DATABASES = {
    'default': {
        'ENGINE': 'django.db.backends.mysql', 
        'NAME': 'mysiteDB',
        'USER': 'root',
        'PASSWORD': '',
        'HOST': 'localhost',   # Or an IP Address that your DB is hosted on
        'PORT': '3306',
    }
}

Which database I should give. I have setup devstack and I can access through mysqlworkbench as a root. I tried giving nova but not worked. – Syed Md. Kamruzzaman Dec 17 '14 at 16:08
Thanks for response. I have found two settings.py in this location 1. /home/Django/build/lib.linux-x86_64- 2.7/django/conf/project_template/project_name 2. /home/Django/django/conf/project_template/project_name. I have changed in these file set ALLOWED_HOSTS = ['*'] and replace your database connection string but still the same. – Syed Md. Kamruzzaman Dec 17 '14 at 16:24
