No persistence unit with name 'XXX' found for JUnit Test only

Question

It is working fine for the application when I am trying to use Junit test, it doesn't seem to find the persistence-unit in persistence.xml.

Looks like it couldn't find the persistence.xml? the file is under this location /src/main/resources/META-INF/persistence.xml and I have tried to add that as well

Question: Does the persistence.xml need to be in the classpath? I have no issue running the application normally but running the Junit test cased the issue, so junit test classpath is different?

I ran the maven debug, and I see that it copied the persistence.xml to the target location.

[DEBUG] file persistence.xml has a filtered file extension
[DEBUG] copy /.../src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/persistence.xml to /.../target/classes/classes/META-INF/persistence.xml

The only strange thing is "/classes/classes/", is that correct path?

This link help. - In my IDE; I create a folder /webapp/WEB_INF/META_INF/ and put the persistence.xml to there.
so the maven will copy the file to ../target/classes/META-INF/persistence.xml

where your persistence.xml is in your SOURCE folders is not of interest. Where it is in your CLASSPATH is the place it looks, so suggest you look at your build system and where it packages it for RUNTIME — Neil Stockton, Jun 25 '14 at 08:06

clearly the persistence.xml has to be in the CLASSPATH otherwise how would you expect a JPA implementation to find it? Should be in "META-INF" from the root of the CLASSPATH as per the JPA spec — Neil Stockton, Jun 26 '14 at 06:41
