I am getting the error when running an Android app on my Nexus 4:

cannot instantiate service ... interface ... cannot be instantiated

Searched endless on the line, but could not find a solution, other than the note that an interface cannot be instantiated. But I do not know how to work around it.

My app just needs to be a service (a sort of plugin) that can be called by the Muzei app.

This app is based on the example of Muzei: https://github.com/romannurik/muzei/tree/master/example-source-500px

Thanks in advance for helping out!

Whenever you declare a Service in your AndroidManifest.xml - and you start your app, it tries to instantiate that Service class declared in the parameter android:name.

Specifically, it tries to do this:

new MuzeiService(...);

Since MuzeiService is an interface (and not a class), this will fail.

Okey, in the AndroidManifest.xml file I pointed to the wrong Java class.

It should be: ArtSource.java

Although this generates another error, but it is a completely different one. So this question has been answered.
