I have developed my vb.net application. I have used Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.dll and Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.Shell.dll as reference.

I have build my application as Release. I have the below mentioned files in \bin\Release folder.

File Manager.exe
File Manager.pdb
File Manager.vshost.exe
File Manager.vshost.exe.manifest
File Manager.xml
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.dll
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.pdb
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.Shell.dll
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.Shell.pdb

I have copy the below mention files in a folder and give it to my friend. 

File Manager.exe
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.dll
Microsoft.WindowsAPICodePack.Shell.dll

When he runs my application. It opens without any problem. But when he click on a button which have code with WindowsAPICodePack, it gives the below errors.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

So my question is, why this error happens. How can I fix it? The application working fine in my pc.

  • No, I have test it in his pc myself. I have also put the dll files in windows/system32. But no success. – user3428095 Mar 23 '14 at 12:34
  • Be *very* explicit where you copied files. A directory like C:/Users/Efat/Downloads/Compressed is a rather unusual one to copy files to. c:\windows\system32 can never work. Why was it downloaded instead of copied? What kind of program did the downloading? – Hans Passant Mar 23 '14 at 12:38
  • It's a normal app. Everything working of the app except that folder dialog option. Actually it was night when I have completed my app. That's why I have uploaded it and told him to download and test. But as he getting errors, I go to his house the next day and capture the errors. Should I need to install/register or do anything with those dll files. I think system can't recognize the dll files. – user3428095 Mar 23 '14 at 13:07
