I have a plugin I'm running in the Equinox container. Within the plugin jar, contains a /bin directory that contains an executable I want to run and the associated shared libraries. I'm trying to get the parent path of the executable (/bin) but am getting the following exception:

    Exception in thread "SpringOsgiExtenderThread-88" org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'testLauncher' defined in URL [bundleentry://105.fwk10703525/META-INF/spring/service.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.BeanInstantiationException: Could not instantiate bean class [com.test.TestLauncher]: Constructor threw exception; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI scheme is not "file"

The code below shows my constructor trying to get the parent path (/bin) of the Resource variable. The exception is being thrown at the new File(binPath.getURI()) command. The resource variable is passed in using the spring context definition below.

public Launcher(Resource resource) {
    try {
        binFile = resource.getURL().getFile();
        String binPath = new File(binPath.getURI()).getParentFile().getAbsolutePath();
    } catch (IOException e) {
        // TODO Auto-generated catch block
        System.out.println("TestLauncher Exception found");
        e.printStackTrace();
    }
}

Spring Context Definition:

<bean id="testResource" class="org.springframework.core.io.ClassPathResource">
    <constructor-arg value="\bin\test" />
</bean>

I think all you need to do is to supply the path value as a file uri, eg:

<bean id="testResource" class="org.springframework.core.io.ClassPathResource">
  <constructor-arg value="file:../test" />
</bean>

Here, I'm just guessing at the path you'll need, based on what I think is your classpath. You may need to experiment with different path values to get this to work.

Good luck!
