I am evaluating twitter bootstrap, foundation, and skeleton for a css framework. I am designing a site that will be desktop and mobile ready, including iPad and other tablets. What are the pros and cons of each framework? I've found a few other similar questions on SO and google but they all seem to be a 1-sided opinion one way or the other. Also, since the new version of bootstrap just launched, most of the stuff I've found compare the older version of bootstrap.

Also, I don't want to limit this to just the 3 frameworks I named.

thx!

  • at the very least, does anyone have an updated list of browsers that the newest bootstrap supports? this one is a year old: https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/wiki/Browser-Compatibility – user_78361084 Sep 30 '12 at 00:47

This is impossible to answer. You will have to find out what requirements you have and if those frameworks fit the bill. there is als Yahoo User Interface, another well known framework . But then, you have to know what you need. Twitter Bootstrap is currently widely used and considered to be working well across many modern browsers and machines, including all kinds of mobile devices.

  • not impossible to answer. "What are the pros and cons of each framework?"...that's impossible to answer? – user_78361084 Sep 29 '12 at 21:47
  • either, way, this question got closed because other people thought the same. – three Sep 30 '12 at 17:27
  • so, apparently we can't ask questions on a q&a board. – user_78361084 Sep 30 '12 at 19:06
  • did you read the grey box that tells you why this question was closed? Generally there is nothing wrong with this question but the q&a bord is probably not the right place. It's too general. Sorry mate. – three Oct 01 '12 at 12:17
  • thanks anyway. Looking forward to the day when we can ask questions on S.O. ;) – user_78361084 Oct 10 '12 at 20:11
  • I don't have a problem with those questions, sometimes have the same urge to go down that rabbit hole. Might be easier to go IRC for that. If you want my personal opinion use twitter bootstrap. I like it, completely opinionated view on the subject. It works, it looks good and it's easy to use. I used yui before but felt I picked a losing framework. But then again, all completely based on nothing but a gut feeling. – three Oct 13 '12 at 15:40
