Firefox extension debugging

Some topics note that Chromebug can be used to debug Add-on SDK extensions. I just installed it but cannot get it to work. I am starting Firefox 12.0 with -chromebug command line parameter and want to be able to inspect a panel's JavaScript code but Chromebug's file and context selectors are empty. What else I can use?

  • I think that you are out of luck here, I am unaware of any tools to properly debug SDK extensions. This is particularly true for panels that will disappear as soon as you change focus. – Wladimir Palant May 18 '12 at 14:03
  • I also found here other answer from mozilla employer SDK developer that it's impossible. It seems like Mozilla drops the ball. I came from Chrome and Opera where this is out of box. – Vasya May 18 '12 at 14:12
  • SDK-based extensions are relatively new, the existing tools are all geared towards classic extensions. I guess that you have to give this some time. – Wladimir Palant May 18 '12 at 14:18
