I am having some issues while submitting an updated version of my app to the app store. The version no. for this updated version is 1.1, old version is already approved.

When I try to upload this version it fails with error "1.1 icon must be in PNG format". I have checked the icon and its in correct format.. in fact it is exactly the same icon which I used to submit the earlier version of the app. I am using MAC OX 10.7.3 with X-Code 4.3.2.

I have also tried to upload using Application Loader but it also gave the same error.

Does anyone know what could be the problem here?

  • You say the icon is in the correct PNG format. Do a clean and then a complete re-build and then open up the app store application package and look to see what format the icon really is in? Also, just for kicks, make sure PNG (or image) compression is turned ***off*** in the project settings. – Michael Dautermann Apr 09 '12 at 08:01
  • thanks Michael.. I have checked the package icons and they are in PNG format.. have tried it with compression off as well but no luck. – Yogesh Agarwal Apr 09 '12 at 08:13
  • Post you PNG or at least a HEX-Dump of the first 100bytes of your PNG. post also the resolution of your PNG. Do you have multiple icons? – Jonas Schnelli Apr 09 '12 at 08:23

Renaming Icon.jpg to Icon.png doesn't make PNG file. Create new PNG and try it again. – beryllium Apr 09 '12 at 09:04
