I love technology. I am informed by learning to program at a time when resources were scarce. Machines had 8 bit words, 16 bit addresses, and datatypes were chosen to conserve space. Every programmer was acutely aware of what was happening under the hood.
I'm glad we have new and better interfaces, cloud infrastructure, thousands of cores per GPU and unthinkably large storage devices. But still, if you want things to run smoothly, and be efficient, try not to forget what happens under the hood!
