nmon is short for Nigel's performance Monitor for Linux

nmon for Linux was an internal project developed by Nigel Griffiths at IBM and was released to open source under GPL in 2009. It supports multiple hardware platforms including x86, x86_64, POWER, and ARM.

Nmon reports basic kernel, memory, disk, and network statistics online on the terminal screen and in time stamped dumps when started in data collection mode.

Nmon is hosted on SourceForge.
