nginx+django serving static files

I followed this guide to deploy Django + Nginx on Ubuntu 11.10. Django works well but doesn't serve any static files.

Here is an excerpt from my settings.py:

STATIC_ROOT = ''

STATIC_URL = '/static/'

ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX = DOMAIN_URL + '/static/admin/'

STATICFILES_DIRS = (
    os.path.join(PROJECT_ROOT, 'static'),
)

And from nginx.conf

I believe alias /project/app/static; needs a trailing slash so it should be: alias /project/app/static/;
