I have an ElasticBeanstalk-managed EC2 instance whose root block device is set to the default Delete on Termination true. I didn't create this instance or any of the AWS resources used by my app; I used EB and it manages the entire thing. I wish to maintain this hands-off approach and use ElasticBeanstalk to manage everything, but I can't figure out how to configure EB so that the root volume of the instance that it creates has DoT set to false.
All of the docs and articles that I can find describe how to set the root volume config on a manually started EC2 instance, but I'm wanting to use Elastic Beanstalk to manage the entire thing and not manually manage the instances.
I'm starting to get the impression that this is not something that can be done in EB, so I'm investigating CloudFormation, but I wanted to see if anyone knows of any .ebextensions magic or something else that would work.
