I am trying to deploy django with gunicorn and nginx on heroku, and i'm kinda confused with the way to config gunicorn and nginx, when i searched through internet, they usually create gunicorn.socket

and the nginx configure file in /etc/nginc/site-enabled/

So i wonder what the different between these and which is the best way to setup gunicorn, nginx. Thanks

Did you possibly assume these were separate approaches? Its a configuration for Nginx, instructing it to connect to the /tmp/gunicorn.sock socket, and configuration for systemd, instructing it to setup gunicorn on that same /tmp/gunicorn.sock socket.

They work on conjunction, one sets up a socket to host the application, one sets up the http server to allow public access to that application, via that socket.

  • Ah i forgot to add another nginx configuration, can you check again, I can use which nginx config file I want right, and I saw that someone using gunicorn.conf.py also, what is the different with these gunicorn file above – Tùng Nguyễn Nov 18 '22 at 03:42
