My Postfix Dovecot mail server is working on 587 but not on port 465. I want to use my outlook client. i tried reading the instructions/documentations but nothing helped so far, I checked available solutions but they did not work as well. Not sure what I missed, any help would be appreciated.

 Interfaces to non-Postfix software. Be sure to examine the manual
 pages of the non-Postfix software to find out what options it wants.

 Many of the following services use the Postfix pipe(8) delivery
 agent.  See the pipe(8) man page for information about ${recipient}
 and other message envelope options.

 maildrop. See the Postfix MAILDROP_README file for details.
 Also specify in main.cf: maildrop_destination_recipient_limit=1

 maildrop  unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=DRhu user=vmail argv=/usr/bin/maildrop -d ${recipient}

 Recent Cyrus versions can use the existing "lmtp" master.cf entry.

 Specify in cyrus.conf:
   lmtp    cmd="lmtpd -a" listen="localhost:lmtp" proto=tcp4

 Specify in main.cf one or more of the following:
  mailbox_transport = lmtp:inet:localhost
  virtual_transport = lmtp:inet:localhost

 Cyrus 2.1.5 (Amos Gouaux)
 Also specify in main.cf: cyrus_destination_recipient_limit=1

cyrus     unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  user=cyrus argv=/cyrus/bin/deliver -e -r ${sender} -m ${extension} ${user}

 Old example of delivery via Cyrus.

old-cyrus unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=R user=cyrus argv=/cyrus/bin/deliver -e -m ${extension} ${user}

 See the Postfix UUCP_README file for configuration details.

uucp      unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=Fqhu user=uucp argv=uux -r -n -z -a$sender - $nexthop!rmail ($recipient)

 Other external delivery methods.

ifmail    unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=F user=ftn argv=/usr/lib/ifmail/ifmail -r $nexthop ($recipient)
bsmtp     unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=Fq. user=bsmtp argv=/usr/lib/bsmtp/bsmtp -t$nexthop -f$sender $recipient
scalemail-backend unix  -       n       n       -       2       pipe
  flags=R user=scalemail argv=/usr/lib/scalemail/bin/scalemail-store ${nexthop} ${user} ${extension}
mailman   unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
  flags=FR user=list argv=/usr/lib/mailman/bin/postfix-to-mailman.py
  ${nexthop} ${user}

  • Your output is broken (multiple lines for `smtps` port). Either post them without removing letters - or just use the commands recommended in the tag description to create a well-formatted version of your config. Also, check the logs generated by postfix when it starts. – anx Apr 22 '21 at 23:05
  • Hi Anx, thanks for sharing your inputs, i will use the suggested format for the future posts. I did some research and found only Outlook client is causing the issue, other clients are working on Port 465. I believe we can close the post here, i will soon delete my post or feel free to close it if possible. – Gaurav Apr 23 '21 at 18:18

    When you have identified a root cause or potential solution, [on this site](https://serverfault.com/tour) the correct course of action is to ensure that others benefit from the solution as well. Improving the question and writing an answer, or closing as a duplicate of a question that already has your answer is usually much better than removing the question (that would be leaving the next person to wonder about the same thing again) – anx Apr 23 '21 at 18:26
  • @anx sure, I hope this helps people. I would be happy to answer anyone's question. Just to let people know, the above posted configurations is correct, it is the Outlook client that was causing issues; other clients were working just w\fine with this configurations. – Gaurav Apr 26 '21 at 22:09
