is a synonym for (genus Narcissus) flowering bulb. In some regions, 'daffodil' and 'narcissus' refer to plants with different shaped flowers (daffodils tend to have larger trumpets) but modern international usage is for the term to be a simple synonym.

Daffodils are usually associated with spring, although some autumn blooming varieties exist.
