Edible fruit from several species of genus Rubus.
Blackberry is an edible fruit(fruits) produced by a number of species in the Rubus genus. It is technically an aggregate fruit and not a true berry. There are over 375 wild species of blackberry. Blackberries are closely related to raspberries but they retain the "core" of the fruit aggregate (raspberries leave the core attached to the plant). Both are often referred to generically as "brambles".
Blackberries are considered very nutritious with a wide range of vitamins and mineral nutrients.
