I have been raised by fabulous home/country cooks. I have even gone into the fields growing and harvesting food - preserving and serving.
I have had the privilege of teaching cooking and working as a chef. Although semi-retired, I still chef when needed and write columns for private organizations.
My love of food/cooking is to share how simple food can be and encourage people to JUST DO IT. I love speaking to women's groups and young folks about the role of hospitality and food to bring people together (as has been done for centuries). Encouraging them to not be afraid to try new things and have get togethers - encourage others to participate in preparing the food at your home...because the true and rare gift of food is that it is with YOU!!!!!! You can go eat out every day...but having a meal with you and prepared by/with you....is priceless!!!!!
