Which brand? Which product? – L.Dutch Aug 31 '23 at 03:03

Hey, I understand your frustration, especially if you have a soy allergy. BUT, "why" is not a question we can answer here. – FuzzyChef Aug 31 '23 at 05:22

1Generally, in factory-made foods, the answer is likely to be money. The edible oil market in particular is affected by the war hitting Ukraine's production of sunflower oil. Soya oil probably hasn't increased in price as much as others that are more popular, so manufacturers have an incentive to switch to it. The same can be said for replacing a small percentage of the meat in a product with soya – Chris H Aug 31 '23 at 06:43

I suspect that much of the issue is the cost of sunflower oil… I don’t know if they now need to label soy (which is why a lot of companies started adding sesame to things, to avoid having to put warnings about being produced on lines that process sesame) – Joe Aug 31 '23 at 14:51
