Portmanteau/Blend of algorithm + democracy. Coined by American author, activist, and entrepreneur Eli Pariser.

algorithmocracy (countable and uncountable, plural algorithmocracies)
- Rule by algorithms, where political decisions are being made by algorithms, and thus making representative democracy obsolete.
- The influence of algorithms on the political opinion of the general public. For example by showing different internet search results and social media content to different people, creating filter bubbles.
