Yasir Naqvi

Yasir Abbas Naqvi MP (born January 25, 1973) is a Canadian politician who has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Ottawa Centre since the 2021 federal election, sitting as a Liberal. Prior to his election to the House of Commons, Naqvi was active in Ontario provincial politics, serving as the first visible-minority attorney general of Ontario (2016–2018), minister of community safety and correctional services (2014–2016), and minister of labour (2013–2014). He represented Ottawa Centre in the Legislative Assembly. On June 3, 2023, Naqvi announced his candidacy for the 2023 Ontario Liberal Party Leadership Election in which he lost to Bonnie Crombie finishing in third.
